Dr Jesse Bergman

Jesse Bergman is a researcher and team player with a love for dynamic, interdisciplinary projects. Her background in marine ecology gives her a strong foundation in making sense of complex data sets and communicating project results to government agencies, academics, and stakeholders. She is motivated by the challenge of making real, tangible change through evidence-based recommendations to management.

In her role as a Research Associate for the Office of the Women in STEM Ambassador, Jesse is leading the systematic review into evidence about initiatives aiming to support diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforces. The research provides a data-driven overview of the types of initiatives that are and are not effective in improving workplace gender equity, anti-harassment, pay equity, and disability inclusion. Jesse led our gender-related research, summarising the evidence that exists on the effectiveness of initiatives that support the retention and progression of women in STEM careers. Having a clear data-driven understanding of the types of initiatives that are effective and those that are not will support the planning of interventions to tackle inequities and improve STEM workforce diversity.
